Our PhD alumnus László Kőszeghy awarded role at the IB's Diploma Program

Our recent alumnus, László Kőszeghy (PhD 2025), is the curriculum manager of the philosophy, classical languages, and (as part of a team) theory of knowledge courses of the International Baccalaureate’s Diploma Program.

Managing curriculum reviews at the IB is a future-oriented, research-based and collaborative process, relying on feedback from educators, students, alumni, and experts, and aimed at producing guides and support materials which gives students the agency to take ownership of their own learning, flourish and create a more peaceful world. 

Assistant Professorship at Fudan University awarded to our alumnus Zhiwei Gu

Our alumnus Zhiwei Gu (PhD 2020) was awarded the position of “Young Associate Research Fellow”, equivalent to assistant professor, at the School of Philosophy, Fudan University, Shanghai. Congratulations, Zhiwei!

Our alumna Nevim Borçin receives FWF's ESPRIT grant

We are thrilled to announce that our alumna Nevim Borçin's (PhD 2023) project, Ethical Methodology in Aristotle's Eudemian Ethics, has been awarded the ESPRIT grant by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF Österreichischer Wissenschaftsfonds).  Starting in 2025, she will hold this fellowship at the University of Vienna over the next three years in collaboration with Prof. George Karamanolis.

Our former MA student Pranav Ambardekar successfully defends his PhD thesis at Ohio State University

Our alumnus, Pranav Ambardekar (MA 2018), recently graduated from the PhD program at Ohio State philosophy. He defended his dissertation entitled "The Epistemology of Reflection" under the supervision of Declan Smithies, and with Hilary Kornblith, Tristram McPherson, and Abraham Roth as committee members. Congratulations, Dr. Ambardekar!

Starting this fall, he will be Assistant Professor of Philosophy & Critical Thinking at FLAME University in Pune, India. 

Our former MA student successfully defends her PhD thesis at the University of Cambridge

Olesya Bondarenko (MA 2017) successfully defended her PhD dissertation titled "Tempering the Ambition of Social Science Genomics: Causation, Explanation, and Evidence for Policy" on 12 January 2024 at the University of Cambridge. Congratulations, Dr. Bondarenko!
