I work at the intersection of philosophy of mind (particularly emotion), epistemology, and cognitive science.
I have worked on the nature of "epistemic anxiety", its role in epistemic states of doubt, and its epistemic value and virtue; the role of cognitive feelings (confusion, uncertainty) in guiding our inquiring activities; the nature and rationality conditions of hope, and its role in mental time travel (the salience and valence attached to imagined futures).
Before joining CEU and the Knowledge in Crisis Project, I was a Swiss National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Researcher at the City University of New York Graduate Center, and at the University of Toronto. I completed my PhD in Philosophy at the University of Geneva (Swiss Center for Affective Sciences) in 2021.
