We held the international CEU Undergraduate Conference in Moral and Political Philosophy on Sept 2-3, 2016. It was an unusual and welcome opportunity for undergraduates to visit CEU, give a professional conference-style presentation, receive commentary and questions from CEU faculty and graduate students from the departments of Philosophy and Political Science - and, last but not least, experience the friendly, international social environment of CEU and a few of the delights of Budapest.

Friday afternoon's keynote lecture by Emma Bullock (CEU Assistant Professor in Philosophy) discussed paternalism and the virtues of friendship; Saturday afternoon's keynote lecture by Zoltan Miklosi (CEU Assistant Professor in Political Science) discussed the ethics of border controls. The organizing committee of CEU graduate students had a difficult task to select a winner for the Best Paper award from among the many high quality undergraduate submissions: Anni Räty (Cambridge) was presented with the award for her paper "In Defence of Moral Deference — The Case of Impure Moral Testimony", and Alister Pearson (Manchester), Miljan Vasić (Belgrade), and Kevin Wong (Princeton) each earned honorable mentions.
