Three of our students receive 2024 PhD award

PhD Award Winner 2024

The PhD awards recognize outstanding performance in research in the case of advanced students, and in coursework and comprehensive exams in the case of first year students. The awardees have been selected by the University Doctoral Committee.    

Congratulations to Yavuz Basoglu and Vladimir Lazurca who received the 2024 Advanced PhD Award, and to Agnes Katona who received the 2024 First-Year PhD Award!

Krishnaswamy Ramakrishnan Spends Fall Term at CEU

The Department welcomes Dr Krishnaswamy Ramakrishnan, Assistant Professor at O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, India, who will be spending Fall Term at CEU. Krishnaswamy is working on the ontological status of subjectivity in both Husserl and Wittgenstein, and is also interested in the philosophy of language and its interface with consciousness. Some part of his research also falls within political philosophy, where he deals with concepts like justice, nationality and modernity. Enjoy your stay in Budapest, Krishna!

Mathieu Charbonneau Joins the Department as Postdoctoral Fellow

A warm welcome to Mathieu Charbonneau, our new postdoctoral fellow for this and the following academic year. Mathieu, who has graduated from the Université de Montréal in 2013, is affiliated with the Departments of Philosophy and Cognitive Science, and is working at the intersection of the philosophy of social sciences, the philosophy of technology, the philosophy of biology, and cognitive science.
