Jakub Jirsa (PhD 2006)

After graduating from CEU in 2006 I started working as lecturer at the Department of Philosophy and Religious studies at Charles University, Faculty of Arts.

I spent some time as a Visiting Scholar in Cambridge (Faculty of Classics) and as a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Human Sciences (Vienna). In the years 2016-2019 and 2023-2025 I served as the head of the department. I specialise in ancient philosophy and ethics; I have published articles on Plato’s conception of virtue and Aristotle’s account of happiness. I also teach courses in contemporary ethics and political philosophy.
