Course Description: 

The course covers some major issues debated in the arts and theological faculties of the universities of the Latin West between the eleventh and the fourteenth centuries. Topics will include an introduction to medieval theories of language, semantics and logic, theory of knowledge and science, major issues in natural philosophy, metaphysics and ethical theory.

Learning Outcomes: 

Familiarity with the philosophical language and issues of the schoolmen. Understanding the conflict of theology and science, and the various solutions to the problem.
